Waarom is er schaamte voor seksspeeltjes? - LieLei

Tips & tricks

Why is there shame around sex toys?

You buy a vibrator. It arrives in a neutral box, discreetly packaged. And yet, when you open the door for the delivery person, you feel a wave of... what exactly? Guilt? Embarrassment? The feeling that you are doing something wrong, when in reality you have just bought something nice for yourself. If you recognize that, you are in good company. Shame surrounding sex, and certainly surrounding sex toys, runs deep. But where does it come from? And more importantly: what do you do about it? It’s in our language Start at the beginning: the words we use. In Dutch, we have 'schaamstreek' (pubic area), 'schaamlip' (labia), 'schaamhaar' (pubic hair). The word 'schaamte' (shame) is literally woven into them. That is no coincidence: it is a cultural legacy that tells us how we have thought about our bodies for generations. That language has consequences. Research shows that one-third of young women are afraid to go to the gynecologist if they have complaints, simply out of shame. Two-thirds barely dare to say the words 'vagina' or 'vulva' out loud. If you already have trouble saying the word, how big is the step to buying a sex toy? Upbringing, religion, and culture: a triple restraint For many people, there are three major sources of sexual shame: upbringing, religion, and culture. At home, you might have been told that sex is for 'later' or 'for marriage'. At school, you learned the biology, but not the pleasure. And in many religious upbringings, sexuality is something you manage, not something you celebrate. On top of that comes the culture in which you grew up. Someone with a conservative background, whether religious, cultural, or geographical, experiences a very different norm than someone who grew up in a 'freer' household. What we notice at LieLei: people we know well, who are definitely not prudish, prefer not to order from us. Because they are afraid that we will see what they are buying. Even though: we started a webshop with sex toys. So, who are we to judge?! And then there is porn culture On the other side of the spectrum is porn culture, which creates a very different kind of shame. Porn has normalized sex for many people, but a very specific version of sex. A version that is not realistic for most people, not healthy, and has little to do with real intimacy. That creates a mixed message: sex is everywhere (in series, advertisements, social media), but your own real sexuality, with your own body, your own desires, your own toys, that you have to hide. Women versus men: two very different stories Shame also works differently by gender. For women, sex toys have increasingly been framed as empowerment in recent years: self-knowledge, pleasure, independence. And it works: 69% of Dutch women now own a sex toy. That is a huge shift. For men, it is different. A sex toy for a man quickly raises questions about masculinity or sexuality. And anal toys for heterosexual men? That is still one of the biggest taboos. It is immediately associated with sexual orientation, while there is no connection whatsoever. That inequality is ironic: female pleasure is increasingly celebrated, but male sexual self-exploration remains surrounded by shame. That helps no one.   Shame is learned. And that is good news! The beautiful (and hopeful) thing about shame is this: it is learned. You weren't born with it. That also means you can unlearn it. Not in one day, not by forcing yourself, but by becoming curious about yourself and what you like, step by step. Start small. Talk to a friend. Visit a webshop like lielei.nl without the pressure to buy something, just to discover what exists. Read articles (well done!). Every small step is a way to rewrite that old story.   Because you deserve a sex life without shame. Period. Want to know more about shame and taboos surrounding sex toys and intimacy? Make Love Work

Playing without shame: Lieke guest on Make Love Work About myths, masculinity, and why one experience seems enough to write something off forever. There are topics everyone has an opinion on, but which are rarely spoken aloud. Our co-founder Lieke joined the Make Love Work podcast for a conversation without a filter. No marketing talk about products. Just an honest conversation about the stories we tell ourselves and each other about sexuality, playfulness, and shame. Why does it feel like competition to some men, when it's not at all? Why do we pretend this is mainly for women? And why is one bad experience sometimes enough to write something off forever? Dwight and Lieke also discussed how curiosity and shame can get in each other's way, how you can get older without playfulness disappearing, and which myths surrounding sexuality turn out to be surprisingly persistent. Tips & tricks

I want a new vibrator - what do you recommend?

You already own a vibrator. And now you want something new, or something to complement it. But how do you choose what really suits you? We’ll help you choose. First: what do you want to feel? Before you choose, it’s helpful to know what you’re looking for. Do you want more of the same, but better? Or are you curious about a different type of stimulation? That question determines everything. What is the difference between the types? What is the difference between a clitoral vibrator and a G-spot vibrator? Here it is simply explained:  Clitoral vibrator: stimulates the clitoris from the outside. Often compact, easy to use, including with a partner. Stimulation can be via vibrations or air pressure (we explain the difference between these at the bottom of this page). G-spot vibrator: curved, for internal use. Aimed at the G-spot; that’s a sensitive spot at the front of the vagina. Rabbit vibrator and duo stimulation vibrator: combines both: internal and external simultaneously. Our honest advice per situation You already have a clitoral vibrator Then a G-spot vibrator is a logical next step. You will explore a completely different type of stimulation, internally instead of externally. → View G-spot vibrators You already have a G-spot vibrator Try an air-pressure clitoral vibrator. No vibrations, but gentle suction; many women describe this as a totally new sensation.  Do you prefer vibrations? There is plenty of choice there, too. You can also use your G-spot vibrator (if it vibrates) to stimulate your clitoris. However, these can sometimes be a bit awkward to hold. A finger vibrator or massage vibrator is ideal for this. → View all clitoral vibrators at LieLei You want to get the most out of one vibrator Internal and external stimulation at the same time. Does that sound like too much? Then a duo stimulation vibrator is for you, because you can use both sides independently, making the intensity easier to control. Does it sound like music to your ears? Then a rabbit vibrator is really something for you. Vibrations or air pressure: what is the difference? You’ve surely heard of air-pressure vibrators before. But what makes them different from a 'regular' vibrator? The difference is in how they stimulate — and that feels very different. Vibrations: direct contact A classic vibrator touches the clitoris and vibrates. Those vibrations pass through the skin and stimulate the nerves directly. You can vary in speed and pattern. Many women love this direct, controllable stimulation: you know exactly what you’re getting. Air pressure: without contact An air-pressure vibrator does not touch the clitoris. Instead, you place it around it, after which it uses gentle pulsing waves of air. This stimulates the clitoris contact-free: from all sides simultaneously. Many people describe this as a fuller, deeper sensation that leads to orgasm more quickly. In short Vibrations = direct contact, vibrating, easy to dose.  Air pressure = contact-free, suction, fuller feeling. Which one is better? That is personal. Do you already have a vibration-based vibrator? Then an air-pressure vibrator is a particularly interesting addition: it really feels different. The same applies in reverse. Why LieLei? At LieLei, we consciously choose a small, high-quality assortment. No endless scrolling marathons, just products that are good. All vibrators are made of body-safe material, free from phthalates, and sustainably sourced. Discreetly packaged, delivered quickly. Still having doubts? Just send us a message (info@lielei.nl). We’d be happy to think along with you, without judgment, without a sales pitch. Pure, honest advice.

Which sex toy suits us as a couple?

You’re curious. Or you’ve been doubting for a while. Or someone secretly sent you a link and now you’re here together (or alone, for that matter). Either way: great plan. Because sex toys for couples can really add something—not because anything is missing, but simply because pleasure is more fun when you share it. But then again: where do you start? There is so much choice, and not everything is equally clear. We simply explain honestly which types there are, what suits whom, and why material matters more than you think. The result: the best choice for you and lots of fun... What are the best sex toys for couples? There is no universal "best sex toy"; it depends on what you like, how familiar you are with toys, and what you would like to experience together. But there are a few popular categories: 1. Vibrating cock ring The cock ring ensures that the penis remains erect for longer, and the vibrating part stimulates the clitoris. This vibrator is suitable for penetration. Suitable for: sex where at least one person has a penis and one has a vulva 2. Double-sided vibrator This vibrator can be used on both sides for penetration. Very suitable for two women. Suitable for: sex where at least two people possess a vulva 3. Massage vibrator This vibrator is suitable for your whole body. You can use it to give or receive massages. Suitable for: anyone with a body 4. Vibrator with remote control One of you wears it, the other is in control. Via a remote, you can control the intensity and the pattern. Perfect for at home or for an exciting evening out. Suitable for: sex where at least one person possesses a vulva, unless you have chosen the butt plug with remote control (which is suitable for everyone). 5. Butt plugs Speaking of butt plugs: they come in all shapes and sizes. Large butt plugs, small butt plugs, glass butt plugs, vibrating butt plugs (with or without remote control); there is something for everyone. Using a butt plug generally requires a bit more preparation than the aforementioned toys. Do you want to start with anal sex? Then first read tips for starting with anal sex. Suitable for: anyone with an anus 6. Finger vibrator Our favorite! A finger vibrator is a small vibrator that you slide onto your finger like a ring. As a result, the distance between your hand and the skin of your partner(s) feels small. But it has a big effect, as this vibrating vibrator can help you reach great heights when you touch the right spot with it. Suitable for: anyone with sensitive spots on their body. The finger vibrator is not only suitable for stimulating the clitoris, but also the anus and the perineum (that is the skin between the scrotum and the anus). 7. Double-sided air-pulse vibrator Most people know the air-pulse technology from the Satisfyer. The double-sided air-pulse vibrator has this too, only it also has a vibrating side. And you can use both sides at the same time. Suitable for: sex where at least one person has a vulva Toys to share Most sex toys are suitable for couples to use together. It just depends on how creative you are. However, some sex toys are simply more convenient to use when there are two (or more) of you. View all types of couple vibrators. Do you want to try something in bed other than the classic sex toys? Then think about: Bondage & Shibari Bondage or shibari (Japanese rope binding) might sound intense, but it can actually be very sensual and calm. Or make it kinky and exciting. Whatever you feel comfortable with. We have a complete Shibari & bondage collection made of sustainable hemp, jute, and/or cotton. Do you want to start with Shibari? Here you will find the starter guide with bondage tips. Massage oil & gels Do you find rope or a device a bit intimidating? Sometimes the fun starts before the sex. Massage oil is accessible, relaxing, and a lovely way to start together. Or try a stimulating gel. All of our massage oils and gels are made from natural ingredients. How do we begin? Tips for couples who are new to sex toys Start by talking. Sounds boring, but it isn’t. Simply scrolling through a webshop together (hello!), indicating what you find attractive and what you definitely don’t, already gives a lot of direction. Our tips for a good start: Start with something accessible: massage oil, a small vibrator, or a simple bondage set. Choose a toy that adds something for both of you, not just for one person. Read the description: a good toy has clear explanations about use and material. Set expectations to zero. It’s about experimenting, not performing. Frequently asked questions about sex toys for couples Can I use a vibrator during sex? Yes, absolutely! Using a vibrator can add an extra dimension to your sex life. Just be sure that your partner is also on board. Or start with the agreement that you are just going to try it, and if someone doesn't enjoy it, you try something else or stop. Although we consider the chance that you'll "stop" small... Is lubricant necessary with sex toys? Almost always recommended, yes. With silicone toys, always use natural lubricant. Other lubricants can damage the material. Our natural lubricants are specially selected for safety—for you and your toys. How do I clean a sex toy? Use a special toy cleaner. Then you can be sure that your toys are hygienically cleaned with a cleanser that is also skin-friendly and (especially for anyone with a vulva) does not disrupt your pH balance. What if my partner is hesitant? No pressure. Let the idea sink in. Sometimes it helps to browse together instead of buying immediately. Or start with something neutral like massage oil—no "sex toy" label, just a really lovely time together. Are your products packaged discreetly? Always. No logos on the box, neutral sender. What you buy stays between you. Which material is safe? And why does it matter? This is perhaps the most underestimated part of buying sex toys. Not every material is equally safe: some cheap toys contain phthalates or other toxic substances that can irritate your body. At LieLei, we only sell toys made of: 100% medicinal silicone (hygienic, skin-friendly, easy to clean) Glass (sustainable, temperature-sensitive, safe) Hemp and jute (for bondage / shibari) Vegan leather (think handcuffs, whips, and other BDSM items) No plastic, no phthalates, no toxic substances. That sounds logical, but it isn't always the case at other webshops. Ready to begin? Sex toys for couples don't have to be complicated. Find something that appeals to both of you, pay attention to the material, and don't forget that it should just be fun. Tips & tricks

The best vibrator for beginners

How to choose your first toy Have you ever asked yourself these questions:“What is a good first vibrator?”, “I don't use a vibrator, which one should I buy?” or “Which vibrator is the best if you don't have one yet?” The answer is not the same for everyone. The “best” vibrator actually depends on your body, your preferences, and how comfortable you feel exploring your sexuality. In this blog, you can read about what to look for and which vibrators are ideal for beginners who are eager to experiment. Why it is personal Everyone experiences pleasure differently. What works for one person might feel too intense or perhaps too mild for another. That is why it is important to: 1. Discover what you like Take it easy and try different types of touch. Do you enjoy external stimulation more (such as on the clitoris)? Or are you curious about internal stimulation (for example, the G-spot)? 2. Choose a toy that suits you Some beginners feel comfortable starting with something small and simple. Others prefer a vibrator with which they can experiment with different settings and ways of use. Both options are fine — what matters is that you feel comfortable. What should you look for in your first vibrator? Intensity - Soft, accessible vibrations are often pleasant when you are still getting used to things. Shape - Round, smooth toys are the easiest for beginners to use. Features - Do you want to start simple, or do you like having multiple options to try out? Material - Always choose body-safe silicone and a toy that is easy to clean. Recommendations: the best vibrators for beginners Below you will find four good options, each with its own vibe (literally and figuratively). This way, you can choose what suits you best. Wand Vibrator Tulsi A true classic – ideal if you don't yet know what you enjoy. Suitable for external stimulation Can also massage other parts of the body (shoulders, neck, thighs) Easy to hold Not intimidating in shape Perfect if you want to start slowly and potentially build up later. Finger Vibrator Tickly The most accessible choice for beginners: Small, soft, and not intimidating Very easy to control Perfect for gentle, localized stimulation Useful for discovering what feels good A great option if you still find the whole thing a bit daunting. Flexible vibrator with air-pulse technology For those who want to experiment and discover different sensations: Combines air-pulse technology (suction sensation on the clitoris) with vibrations Can be used both internally and externally Flexible, making it usable in many positions Ideal if you are curious about multiple types of stimulation. G- and P-spot vibrator Do you want to discover what internal stimulation can do for you? Then this is a wonderful choice: Designed for the G-spot (and for people with a penis: the P-spot) Many different settings Quiet and smooth silicone material Beautiful, elegant design A good first step toward internal orgasms. Satisfyer 2.0 The Satisfyer is well-known to everyone. Despite its popularity, it can be an intense choice as a first vibrator. That is why we recommend the Chi: This air-pulse vibrator has 3 different attachments. Because of this, there is always one that suits your body well and feels good for you. The intensity is also easier to regulate with these. There are many different settings - from very soft to intense. This vibrator is made entirely of super soft silicone. The model fits well in your hand. In our opinion, a better alternative to the Satisfyer. How do you choose the right vibrator? Ask yourself these questions: Do I want to try external or internal stimulation? Do I like starting slowly, or do I want variety? Do I want a subtle model, or am I looking for more features? If you are not sure yet: choose a model that can do multiple things. That way, you will discover for yourself what appeals to you most. Go get the O There is no such thing as the best vibrator for beginners, but there is a best vibrator for YOU. Take your time to discover, try out different sensations, and choose a toy that matches your comfort level. Whether you choose a simple, low-threshold vibrator or a flexible model with more capabilities: the most important thing is that you enjoy exploring your own body. Have fun discovering!   Frequently asked questions from beginners Should I choose a specific shape? No. The right shape is the one you feel comfortable with — that can be small, large, straight, curved, or something else entirely. Is it normal that it takes some getting used to? Absolutely. Your body needs time to get to know new sensations. Can I start with internal stimulation? Yes, if that feels right to you. If you prefer to start externally first, that is just as normal. How do I know if a vibrator is too intense? If you notice your muscles tensing up, you get distracted by the intensity, or you lose your relaxation, it can help to switch to a lower setting or try a different form of stimulation. Do you become desensitized from using vibrators? No, you do not become desensitized from using sex toys. Nevertheless, some women do indeed find it harder to reach orgasm with a partner after they have gotten used to a vibrator. This is not due to desensitization, but to habituation, expectations, and a bit of biology. In this blog, we explain why it sometimes seems like you are becoming desensitized from sex toys.
Safe seks: waarom veilige seksspeeltjes belangrijk zijn - LieLei

Tips & tricks

Safe Sex: Why Safe Sex Toys Are Important

Safe sex is more than just using contraceptives like condoms. Safe sex also means using good products—even when you’re having sex with yourself. Because did you know that many sex toys and lubricants are still made from materials that are better off not being used in or on your body? And that poor-quality lubricant or toy cleaner can disrupt your natural balance? In this blog, we’ll explain why safe sex toys and intimate products aren't just an unnecessary luxury, but a must. And how, at Lielei.nl, you can be sure you’re choosing safe, sustainable, and enjoyable alternatives. Why the material of your vibrator (really) matters Many people don’t think about it, but the quality of the material used in your vibrator or butt plug is important. Toys made from cheap silicone or plastic can contain plasticizers (such as phthalates), which can be harmful to your health. These substances can cause irritation, allergic reactions, or even hormonal disruptions. Always make sure your sex toys are made from body-safe materials such as medical-grade silicone, stainless steel, and borosilicate glass. These materials are: Free from phthalates and (micro)plastics Easy to clean Free from toxic substances Durable and wear-resistant This way, you not only enjoy wonderful self-care moments, but you also know for sure that you aren't taking any risks. Safe sex = safe lubricant too A safe toy deserves a safe lubricant. Many lubricants contain parabens, glycerin, or fragrance—ingredients that can disrupt your vaginal flora or cause irritation. That’s why you should always choose a lubricant that suits both your body and your toy. Because even if you don't react to the lubricant, it can sometimes damage your sex toy. What a shame! When buying a lubricant, always ensure that it is: Compatible with silicone toys. pH-neutral and vegan. Free from unnecessary junk. This keeps your intimate area healthy and your toy in top condition. Water-based lubricant is often a good choice. However, sometimes you are better off choosing a silicone-based lubricant. Want to know when to choose which? Take a look at this blog. Cleaning = respect for yourself and your toy Another important aspect of safe sex is hygiene. Cleaning your toy with water alone? Unfortunately, that is often not enough. A good toy cleaner not only removes visible residue but also kills bacteria without damaging your toy. We only offer mild, effective toy cleaners that: Do not contain alcohol (so they are gentle on silicone). Are quick and easy to use. Extend the lifespan of your toy. This keeps both you and your toy happy.   Sustainable, conscious, and body safe: that’s Lielei Whether you’re looking for a safe vibrator, a sustainable dildo, a lubricant without the fuss, or a toy cleaner that actually works—at Lielei, you shop with peace of mind. We carefully test and select all our products, so you know: this is truly safe sex. Do you want to be sure that your toys are safe for your body and good for the planet? Can you take sex toys in your hand luggage?

When you go on a trip, you might want to bring your favorite toys along. But what is the deal with sex toys in your carry-on luggage? Is that allowed? We have listed everything for you. What is allowed and what is not in your carry-on? In general, sex toys are allowed in your carry-on, as long as they do not contain any prohibited or dangerous components (such as sharp edges, liquids over 100 ml, or elements that could be considered weapons). Think of: Vibrators: yes, allowed Dildos: yes, allowed Lubricant: only in containers of max. 100 ml and in a transparent bag BDSM gear like handcuffs: usually allowed, but could raise questions at security Does it depend on the type of vibrator or dildo? Yes, a little bit. The more conspicuous the toy, the greater the chance that security might comment on it. Especially larger toys or models with metal parts can trigger extra screenings. Small, discreet toys such as a mini vibrator or bullet vibrator are perfect for carry-on luggage. Our tips? Mini vibrator: super discreet and doesn't immediately look like a vibrator Bullet vibrator Elemi: small, powerful, and even fits in a wallet Does it differ per country or airline? Yes, unfortunately so. In most European countries and with most airlines, sex toys are not a problem, but in some countries (such as parts of the Middle East or Asia) stricter rules apply. There, toys could be confiscated or even lead to questions at customs. So, always check the rules of your destination and the airline you are flying with. Especially in conservative countries, it is wise to pack toys in your checked luggage, well-packed and preferably without batteries*. Are handcuffs also allowed? In principle yes, as long as they are soft, non-metal handcuffs. Police handcuffs or items with sharp metal parts can cause problems. Be prepared for questions at security, and if in doubt, put them in your checked luggage. Or, for peace of mind, opt for handcuffs made of jute-hemp or soft vegan leather. Traveling discreetly and stress-free Do you want to avoid questions from security? Then choose small toys that aren't immediately noticeable. Our mini vibrators are ideal for carry-on luggage, even fit in a makeup bag, and look so innocent that they likely won't raise a single eyebrow. Bonus: our vibrators are designed so that they cannot easily start vibrating in your bag. That avoids awkward moments at security. Have a safe flight Yes, you can bring sex toys in your carry-on, but be smart, choose discreetly, and always check the rules of your destination. With a small vibrator such as the Mini vibrator or the Elemi bullet, you travel without stress, and with pleasure. Have a great flight! * All LieLei vibrators can be charged with a cable and do not contain batteries. This is more sustainable than a vibrator that uses batteries.
Hoe introduceer je seksspeeltjes in bed? - LieLei

Tips & tricks

How do you introduce sex toys in bed?

Sex toys can be great tools for making your sex life more exciting, intimate, and creative. But not everyone feels comfortable with the idea right away. Sometimes your partner might feel insecure: "Am I not enough?", "Am I doing something wrong?", or "Am I being replaced now?" are feelings that are quite normal in such a situation. The way you introduce toys therefore makes a world of difference. Here are a few tips to do so lovingly and respectfully. Tips for introducing sex toys 1. Start outside the bedroom Choose a quiet moment to bring up the subject, for example during a walk or a relaxed evening on the couch. This way, you don't immediately associate the conversation with performance or pressure. You could say something like: "I saw something interesting about toys recently and I thought: that sounds like something fun for us to explore together." This keeps it light and open. So don't suddenly pull a huge dildo out of your nightstand in the middle of sex (unless you know your partner finds that hilarious). Because laughing together in bed = always good. 2. Focus on the 'together' Make it clear right away that it’s not about replacement, but about enhancement. Explain that you see it as a new experience you share together. Say, for example: "I already love what we have, but I'm curious about what else we can discover together." This emphasizes that you are satisfied, but also curious. 3. Build the fantasy together Invite your partner to explore toys with you. Browse through a sexy webshop together, send a cheeky suggestion via WhatsApp, or suggest picking out a toy together. Involve your partner — it then becomes ‘our project’ instead of ‘my wish’. 4. Ask questions and really listen Give your partner space to share their feelings. Ask: "How do you feel about that idea?" and be genuinely interested in the answer, without pushing. Perhaps your partner has concerns that you can come up with solutions for together — for example, trying something small and simple first, or reading information together first. 5. Start small Don't go full throttle immediately with bondage kits and powerful wand vibrators, unless you are both ready for that. Small, subtle toys like a luxury bullet, a clitoral stimulating oil, or a soft massage vibrator are perfect entry-level items that invite exploration without pressure. The goal is to spark curiosity, not to overwhelm. 6. Keep it playful Don't introduce the toy as a serious "test," but as a playful extra. Laughing is allowed, fumbling is too. By keeping it light, you take away a lot of pressure. 7. Check in regularly Ask during the experimentation (or afterward): "How did you like it?" This shows you care about their experience and that everything is open for discussion. Maybe your partner wants to adjust things, or new ideas have come up. 8. Praise the reaction, not the toy When you use a toy, focus on your partner: how beautiful they look when they’re enjoying themselves, how good they sound, how it turns you both on. Don’t just say: "Wow, this vibrator is amazing." Say instead: "You are so incredibly sexy when you enjoy yourself like that." That small difference makes it emotionally safe — and very hot. Using sex toys together The most important thing is that it doesn't become a 'must'. Sexual discoveries are only truly fun when both partners feel safe, desired, and appreciated. Patience, openness, and humor are your greatest allies here. Playing together is winning together. Are you ready? Then take a look at all sex toys that are suitable for couples who are just getting started. Want to see all sex toys for couples? Tips & tricks

Do sex toys make you desensitized?

Fact or fiction? You can buy them at the drugstore these days: vibrators and other sex toys. With so much accessibility, you would think every woman has one in her nightstand. Yet, that is far from the case. A commonly heard reason? The fear of becoming "desensitized" through the use of sex toys — especially when sharing the bed with a partner again. Because what if you can hardly reach an orgasm without a toy anymore? LieLei looked into it for you: Do you really become desensitized from sex toys? Spoiler alert: no. You do not become desensitized from using sex toys. Where does this myth come from, then? Some women do indeed experience that it is more difficult to reach an orgasm with a partner after they have become accustomed to their toy. They describe it as "taking longer" or even "it just doesn't work anymore without it." But this has nothing to do with "desensitization" — it has to do with habituation, expectations, and a little bit of biology. Why does a sex toy actually work so well? Let's look at the numbers:When women masturbate, about 95% reach an orgasm. If sex with a man is added, that percentage drops to about 65%. This phenomenon is also known as the orgasm gap. That difference can be partially explained: when you are in control yourself, you know exactly what you like — and you don't have to take anyone else into account. Add a powerful air-pulse or vibrating toy to that, and the orgasm can even come within a few minutes. While you might have needed half an hour in the past, you now discover that it can also be done in two minutes. Why? You know exactly what you like yourself. You can keep stimulating that one specific spot. And honestly: a vibrator doesn't get tired, doesn't lose its rhythm, and has no ego... And then suddenly: sex with a partner again Once you have experienced how fast and intense an orgasm can be with a toy, "regular" sex sometimes feels slow or less "effective." Not because you feel less — but because you have become accustomed to getting an orgasm quickly. You know what is possible, so your patience has simply run out a bit. It feels like a step backward, but it is not necessarily one. What can you do? Fortunately, this does not mean you have to choose between toys and partners. On the contrary. Here are some great tips to combine the best of both worlds: Let go of the performance pressure. Sex is not just about "finishing as quickly as possible." Focus on the pleasure, not the stopwatch. Learn to communicate clearly. Tell them what you like. Give directions. And as a partner: listen, observe, and try. Don't be offended if you get directions; after all, you want your partner to enjoy it, right? Use sex toys together. Yes, even in bed with a partner! Toys can actually deepen your sex life. Think of an air-pulse toy during oral sex, a bullet vibrator during penetration, or a duo toy where you enjoy together. Myth: you don't become desensitized from sex toys No, you do not become desensitized from sex toys. But you do become accustomed to the efficiency and direct stimulation they provide. If it then takes a bit more time or coordination with a partner, it suddenly seems much more difficult. The solution? Adjust expectations, communicate, and above all: keep having fun — with or without a toy. Want to know which toys suit you (and your partner) best? In a future blog, we will list our favorites for you. Stay tuned! 💙   Try it together?💙 View our toys for couples – for the best of both worlds.

More and more people are consciously concerned with their health: enough exercise and being aware of what they ingest, both through food and what they put on their skin or wear. A good development. Many products contain harmful substances such as plastic, PFAS and other chemicals. These substances can pose a major risk to your health - especially if they come into direct contact with the most sensitive parts of your body. Hence the question: do you know what your sex toys are made of? In this blog we explain why it is important to consciously choose safe, high-quality products. The Danger of Plastic and Chemicals Cheap erotic products are often made of plastic or other materials that contain harmful chemicals, such as phthalates. Phthalates are used to make plastic flexible, but these substances are notorious for their hormone disrupting effects. In addition, there are also products that contain PFAS, better known as "forever chemicals". These substances hardly break down, can accumulate in your body and are linked to health problems such as reduced fertility and hormonal imbalance. What Happens When These Substances Come In Contact With Your Skin? The skin of your intimate areas is thinner and more sensitive than other parts of your body. This means that harmful substances are absorbed more quickly. The consequences can range from immediate irritations, such as redness, itching and a burning sensation, to long-term risks such as disruption of your natural pH balance. The latter can lead to discomforts such as infections or inflammation. Here are some effects to consider: 1. Irritations and Allergic Reactions Plastics and plasticizers (such as phthalates): These substances can irritate the skin or cause allergic reactions, such as redness, itching or a burning sensation. Sensitive skin: Intimate areas have thin, absorbent skin that reacts quickly to harmful substances. 2. Disturbed pH balance Chemicals in materials: Some cheap materials contain substances that disrupt your body's natural pH balance. An imbalanced pH can lead to discomforts such as dryness, fungal infections or bacterial infections. 3. Long-term risks from PFAS and Phthalates PFAS: There is still a lot of research going on about the effects of PFAS. They are currently linked to hormone disruption and health problems such as reduced fertility. Phthalates: These are often added to cheap plastic to make it flexible, but are known as hormone disruptors. This can affect your hormonal balance and cause other health problems. Why Cheap Is Often Expensive Many products you find online are produced cheaply without any attention to quality or safety. The use of plastic and chemicals reduces production costs, but puts you as a user at risk. In addition, the origin of these products is often unclear, which means that you have no idea what exactly you are buying. Cheap can therefore ultimately become expensive, especially when you consider the consequences for your health. Your Safety First At LieLei, we do things differently.
