The five sexual archetypes The five sexual archetypes come from the work of Jaiya, a sexologist who created this classification to help people better understand their sexual preferences and desires. The five archetypes are: The Sensual Loves touch, atmosphere, scent, music, and aesthetics. This type has a romantic, sensory approach to sexuality and is turned on by a nice ambiance and physical contact. The Energetic Responds to tension, desire, and anticipation. This type is drawn to subtle signals, distance, and the play of desire. Sometimes, direct sexual contact can be too much if there is no build-up. The Sexual Loves direct, classic sex and is quickly aroused by visual or physical stimuli. This archetype views sexuality as something natural and can become impatient if there are too many distractions. The Kinky Loves exploring taboos, power dynamics, and unconventional forms of pleasure. This can be mental (role-play) as well as physical (for example, bondage). The Shapeshifter Has characteristics of all the archetypes above and enjoys variety. This type can adapt to different partners and styles. Why is it useful to know your archetype? It helps you better understand what turns you on and how your sexual energy works. You can improve communication with a partner by understanding where your preferences lie and how you can complement each other. It helps reduce frustrations or misunderstandings in your sex life, as you become more conscious of what you need to get aroused. Want to know more?
